Hello! My name is Luke, owner/operator of LB Building Company. I think it’s important to know who you’re hiring. It’s not always an easy decision to make. You work hard for your money and you need someone who will work hard for you to make sure it is well spent. So I just wanted to share a little history about myself and how LB Building Company came to be.
I grew up in the small town of Hensall, Ontario. My father was a mechanic and my mother was a librarian. With 5 of us kids to take care of, they worked hard and sacrificed to make sure we grew up with full bellies and good heads on our shoulders. I’m thankful everyday for the upbringing I had and I strongly believe that the values my parents passed down to me are what makes this company what it is. Honest, trustworthy and ready to get the job done.

LB Building Co. has been hard at work since 2015 but the roots of the company were planted even further back in 2003. I moved to Kitchener to attend college and started framing houses as a practical way to make money during the summer. I quickly realized though that this was something I enjoyed more than my college program and what started as a temporary summer gig turned into a full time 5 year school of hard knocks course on how to build! Through hands-on experience I gained the knowledge and work ethic needed to get into the industry that would later become my passion.
When the 2008 recession hit I found other opportunities in non residential construction. Building and maintaining communications towers and equipment. Although much different in scope of work, the same attention to detail and hard work ethic was further engrained. You also had to be fearless to climb up 400 ft. to do your job!
I then decided it was time to give college another try. I chose to go back to what I loved about framing. Working with wood! I enrolled in the Conestoga College Woodworking Technician Program and graduated with distinction. During that time I completed a summer co-op placement with a high end deck builder in Waterloo. After I graduated I went on to work for several custom woodworking shops building cabinets and pattern making, gaining more valuable experience in the trade.
A turning point came when a good friend asked me to help rebuild his deck and fence. It went very well, he was thrilled with the end result and it gave me the confidence to set off on my own and start my own company.
I rented a small shop space in the back of a local KW dry cleaners and began taking on whatever jobs I could find. Framing, drywall, decks and fences, odd jobs. As my skills and experience grew I steadily built a local clientele and eventually moved to Hamilton and continued to grow and hone my craft. Teaming up with other local builders and trades to draw from and call on when needed. After several years I decided it was time to move out of the city and back to the small town life I grew up with and loved. I found myself setting up shop in Scotland Ontario where I continue to work from and build and gain more skill to offer better and better products for all my awesome clients.
